Starting in the mid eighteenth century, JW Benson is one of the longest serving, all-British watchmaking companies, with a reputation to boot. The company acquired Royal patronage in 1879. Clerkenwell, home to Antique Watch Co. for nearly 50 years, is well known for its horological past, and part of its history extends to the JW Benson factory being opened in Ludgate Hill in 1892. JW Benson is now a subsidiary of Mappin and Webb, but their celebrated watches have stood the test of time.
Here we have a stunning 1946 9ct Gold J.W. Benson. It's 30mm, round, slim case has tapering lugs. At 38mm lug to lug length, you can be sure of a comfortable fit on your wrist. A fine bezel holds a domed crystal. The white enamel dial has an outer minute track and lumed Arabic numeral indexes marking the hours. Elegant syringe hands have lume infill. At 6 o’clock is the sub-seconds register. Text at 12 o’clock is finely applied to the dial. Its classic, enamel dial is easy to read. On the reverse, a polished 9ct gold, snap-on case back. Inside, a manually wound, 15 jewels J.W. Benson movement.
Extra Points
This watch is sold as with its original J.W. Benson box but no original paperwork. The watch dates from circa 1946 and is in worn, vintage condition as you can see from the photos, but overall the watch is in very good condition all considered.
The watch comes fully serviced by our on-site workshop and with a 12 months, non-waterproof service cover.

Such a charming and cute watch with a stunning dial to match It's considerably rare to find a watch from this era with an actual enamel dial. Now for most men, they find this size of watch too small, but I would say if you're comfortable with smaller watches you are really getting yourself an absolute gem for such a fair price! Ladies out there, this is perfect for you!
