This Watch

We have here a stunning example of a Zenith Automatic Date 28800, model S2078 from the 1970s.  This watch is all original with box and booklets. The date function sits in between 4 and 5 o'clock which is somewhat of a zenith trademark.

33mm 9ct Yellow Gold Tonneau case which wears larger. The curve of the case leads your eye to the stubby flat-ended lugs, and a lug-to-lug length of 39.5mm and a thickness of 11mm ensure a comfortable fit on your wrist. A slim bezel holds a domed crystal above a white dial, an outer minute track has applied baton indexes with chamfered edges, gold accents and black-painted centres. Between the 4 and 5, we have a framed date window. Slender sword hands have the same gold and black combination for a sophisticated yet simple design, a tapered sweeping second hand completes the dial. The text is minimalist with the applied gold Zenith star and “Zenith 28800” printed underneath at 12 o’clock. On the reverse, a 9ct Yellow Gold case back, inside we have an automatic Zenith Cal. 2562 PC, 23 jewels, beating at 28,800 beats per hour, this quality Swiss movement was in production from 1972 until 1975. The watch comes fitted on an 18mm leather strap and comes with its Zenith presentation box and booklet

What we think

We love Zenith.  They are such an underrated watch house with both their vintage and modern pieces gaining momentum of late.  The company that produced the El Primero, Zenith are a real part of watch history and were one of the top Swiss brands of this period! Snap yourself up a bargain while you still can!
