This Watch
A gorgeous, vintage Breitling Top Time 2211 with a manual-winding chronograph movement, caliber Valjoux 7730. The case measures 38.2 x 38.2mm and is an all stainless steel, screw back case with round pushers.
The tachymeter outer ring measures how fast an object is moving so a chronograph is also an instrument. The scale can be found either on the dial or in the bezel inner or outer. Most tachymeters start at 400 and end at 60, but some models can show different numbers.
The Breitling Top Time 2211 was conceived in the early 1960s as a cheaper entry level range of Breitling chronographs. One of the highlights here is the stunning dial, which makea it a popular choice. The Top Time is highly sought after and is very much along the line of Heuer models like the Camaro and Monaco.
Extra Points
The crown and pushers are signed Breitling. The crown looks very clean, and winds and pulls out to the time-setting position as it should. It sits tightly against the case. The two pusher caps are likewise in excellent shape. Both chronograph pushers work as they should.
What we think
This beauty is sharp and certainly a conversation piece. Retro styling with a motorsport edge. A timepiece and also a device for calculation. The colours of the dial work perfectly together making multiple strap options possible. A heritage piece which we are sure will be reintroduced into the current Breitling line. However you cannot beat an original.
