We have here an impeccable Oris 7488 with triple calendar function, moonphase and dual time zone!
The white, guilloche dial has everything you could need from a watch. Underneath the sapphire crystal we have the blue steel, lumed, stick hour, minute and central seconds hands. The faceted, stick, baton hour markers border the three subsidiary dials: on the right is the day, on the left the date and at 6 o'clock is the dual time zone, a must have for any traveller. At 12 o'clock, the dial is signed 'Oris, Automatic,' which sits beneath the moonphase complication. With so much going on, Oris have managed to make the dial is surprisingly easy to read.
The tonneau-shaped, stainless steel, screw-back case measures 33.5 x 41mm and house the automatic caliber 571. The watch comes on its original bracelet with a deployment clasp.
Oris was founded in 1904 by two men, Paul Cattin and Georges Christian. The name comes from a brook at the Swiss town of Hölstein, in a short span of time they became the largest employer in Hölstein. By 1929, they had a total of six factories. At the end of the 1960s, Oris became one of the largest watch companies in the world, producing approximately 1.2 million timepieces a year.
The watch comes with our 12 months, non-waterproof service cover having been recently serviced by Oris.
What we think
Once again, Oris have proved how great they are at designing a watch that gives you a lot of bang for your buck while still maintaining a modest price. We've kept the watch on its original bracelet for a more sporty feel, but it can be switched from to a strap at your leisure. There aren't many of these 7488s left on the market so we'd recommend snapping this one up while you still can!
