We have here a very special, limited edition, TAG Heuer West McLaren Mercedes 98 wristwatch. There were only 3999 of these watches produced (ours is number 1071) as a celebration of the McLaren team winning the F1 Constructors Championship in 1998. The team consisted of David Coulthard and Miki Hakkinen, and was under the management of Ron Dennis, with signatures from all three on the case back.
The silvered dial has a chequered, finish line-style strip between 4 and 8 o'clock, and is signed 'West McLaren Mercedes 98' above. The famous red and green 'TAG Heuer' logo at 12 o'clock and date window is at 4 o'clock. Three subsidiary dials, tachymeter and a coin-turned, uni-directional bezel complete this chronograph watch.
The 38mm stainless steel case has stainless steel chronograph pushers and screw-down crown, complete with crown guards, for that classic TAG Heuer look. Inside the watch is the quartz ETA caliber 251.262, fully serviced by us and running strongly. The watch comes on its original, stainless steel, integrated, TAG Heuer 'Sports Elegance' linked bracelet. The watch comes in its original piston-style box, complete with instruction booklets and international guarantee card, purchased from the original owner.
Edouard Heuer founded The Heuer Watch Company in 1860 in St. Imier, Switzerland. Chronographs have been the mainstay for Heuer and later TAG Heuer. The brand has produced many models and configurations, expanding the possibilities to the full. In 1958 Jack Heuer, Edouard’s son, joined the company. In 1962 the first generation of Autavia was launched and has famously been worn in by Formula One drivers such as Derek Bell, Jacky Ickx, Emerson Fittipaldi, Clay Regazzoni and Mario Andretti, and many more. In 1999 TAG Heuer accepted a bid from LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton S.A.

What we think
TAG Heuer have a strong link to the F1 and we love this limited edition watch that they produced with McLaren. Still a true testament to a timeless design and with less than 4000 of these superb chronographs produced, this watch is a must-have for any TAG, F1 or McLaren enthusiast.
