This Watch

We have here a classic watch from TAG Heuer, F1 series WA 1218 model from the mid to late 1990s.  This watch is the complete full set and comes with the original box, outer box, books, warranty cards, receipts and spare links.

The crisp, white dial has a mixture of round and shield-shaped, luminous markers, with black, lumed Mercedes hands.  The date window is at 3 o'clock and the dial is signed 'TAG Heuer,' with the famous TAG Heuer logo at 12 and 'Professional, 200 meters, quartz' at 6.  The 12, 6 and 9 o'clock markers are almost the outline of the TAG Heuer logo, which ties these markers in with the dial nicely.  The uni-directional, black bezel is a must on every dive watch and such an iconic part of this watch's instantly-recognisable design.  All of this is cleanly presented underneath a sapphire crystal.

The 34mm, brushed, stainless steel, screw-back case comes complete with crown guards, for the signed crown.  Inside is the quartz caliber 185, fully serviced by us and running strongly.  We've kept the watch on it's original, stainless steel, fliplock bracelet but this watch looks equally as iconic on a strap, too.  The fantastic plus is that watch comes with a full set.

Please note, the bracelet is full size, with spare links so should fit all wrists.

Extra Points

Edouard Heuer founded The Heuer Watch Company in 1860 in St. Imier, Switzerland.  Chronographs have been the mainstay for Heuer and later TAG Heuer.  The brand has produced many models and configurations, expanding the possibilities to the full.  In 1958 Jack Heuer, Edouard’s son, joined the company.  In 1962 the first generation of Autavia was launched and has famously been worn in by Formula One drivers such as Derek Bell, Jacky Ickx, Emerson Fittipaldi, Clay Regazzoni and Mario Andretti, and many more.  In 1999 TAG Heuer accepted a bid from LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton S.A.

The 3000 series was first introduced by Heuer in 1984, and continued into the TAG Heuer partnership, being produced for just over 5 years.  In the final year of the series' manufacture, the 3000 name was removed from the dial and the monochrome TAG Heuer logo was changed to the red/green version.

The watch comes fully serviced by our on-site workshop and with our 12 months, non-waterproof service cover.

What we think

The F1 series are a true testament to a timeless design and are one of TAG's best-selling lines.  It was very popular in the 1980s and 1990s and was thought of as many people's first 'proper' watch.  These watches are quickly becoming popular again as they have such a nostalgic factor for so many.  The perfect dive-style watch for the vintage watch newbie and can be switched from bracelet to strap at your leisure.  To think back in the day owning a TAG watch was a necessity.
