We have here an exciting Roamer mechanical manual wind watch from the 1950s. There is no doubt about the originality of the white dial, which has aging around the centre pinion and the hour markers. We love the mix of even Arabic numerals and dot hour markers, and the outer minute tracking with 5 minute interval Arabic markings. The dial is signed 'Roamer, Water Resist, Shock Resist' at 12 o'clock, and '17 Jewels, Antimagnetic' at 6. The dial is complete with alpha hour and minute hands and a central seconds hand with a red arrow marker. The gold-coloured chapter ring really sets the dial off.
The chunky-looking, 32.5mm, stainless steel case is a patented, waterproof case design by Roamer from 1941, and the case back is signed 'Brevete,' which means patented. The case has a two-piece body with the crown set in the band of the case. Inside is the mechanical manual wind Roamer caliber, fully serviced by us and running strongly. We've paired the watch on a brown leather strap, but it looks great on anything.
Extra Points
Fritz Meyer founded Roamer in 1888 at just 29 years old. He set up his headquarters and workshops in Solothurn, Switzerland. By 1895 they had expanded and created their first in-house movement, the Cal.38, to commemorate Fritz's 38th birthday. In 1952, the company changed their name to Roamer Watch Co. SA and 2013 saw them celebrate 125 years as a Swiss watch manufacturer.

What we think
Roamer are an underrated brand who produced amazing in house calibers along with much sought after models including the StingRay, Anfibio, Searock - they definitely deserve more appreciation. If you're looking for an affordable, attractive and reliable vintage dress watch, you'd be pushed to find a better example. Even with the slightly smaller, 32.5mm size, it looks stunning on both men and women.
