This Watch
Here we have a beautiful, unworn 2005 Longines Dolce Vita in 18ct rose gold. The design draws its inspiration from a piece they created in the 1920s, but the Dolce Vita line wasn't introduced until 1997. The 19.5mm rectangular case has elegant lines and soft, rounded corners. A lug to lug length of 30mm and a thickness of 6.5mm ensures a comfortable fit on the wrist. On the right side, a Longines-signed crown. A flat sapphire crystal sits above the pristine, white dial. Radiating, applied gilt, teardrop indicies mark the hours. A sub-second register at 6 o’clock. Elegant black sword hands complete this subtle creation. On the reverse, a snap-on case back with engraving across it. Inside, an ETA 980.153, a quality Swiss quartz movement. The watch comes fitted on its original, Longines, 15mm, leather strap with a Longines-signed buckle. The watch comes with its original, Longines presentation box and papers. The watch is from December 2005 and is sold in unworn condition, as you can see from the photos, any marks are from storage over the past 15+ years.Extra Points
Founded in 1832, Longines has a rich and exciting history. The company produced their first movement, the 20A, in 1867 near the Swiss town of Saint-Imier, in a place called Es Longines ("long meadows"). This movement won an award at the Exhibition Universelle in Paris in the same year. Longines are credited with advancing the industrialisation of Swiss watchmaking and it because of their new mechanical procedures, they were able to produce a simple chronograph movement, the 20H, as early as 1878. It was the first mechanism that Longines had made that could be used for precise timing and it was so popular with horse racing bettors and spectators that by the end of 1886, Longines were supplying chronographs to the majority of New York's sports officials. It is still the official timekeeper of many horse races, with over 40 in its annual calendar. The Longines brand name and logo were officially registered with the United International Bureaux for the Protection of Intellectual Property (later the WIPO) in 1889. Longines is the oldest brand name registered with the WIPO that is unchanged and still in use today. Longines is now part of the Swatch Group, having joined in 1983.
This watch has been fully serviced in our on-site workshop and comes with our 12 month, non-waterproof service cover.
What we think
A fantastic watch for any lady out there, in 18ct pink/rose gold it just works so well against any skin tone. Plus, whilst this is based on Longines history it really does also resemble the Cartier Tank, but for a solid 18ct rose gold model in this size the price difference is mind blowing! Even just a modern Longines Dolce Vita in 18ct is crazy, save yourself a huge chunk and purchase this unworn model today!
