This Watch

Superb Universal Genève watch from the 1960s in extremely good condition. A company with created in Locle in 1894 under the name of Descombes & Perret, named after its founders Ulysse-Georges Perret and Numa-Emile Descombes. This young company registered the future famous "Universal Watch" brand.
Steel case of 34 mm without the original crown with Universal Genève logo and screw back, stamped and numbered . Silvered dial with line markers, minute markers, central second hand, date display at 3 o'clock, reminder of the famous tuning-fork around the Universal Genève logo under the 12 and Universal Genève - Unisonic inscriptions (Unisonic refers to the tuning-fork movement). New brown coloured crocodile grain strap, 19 cm without buckle.
Universal Movement 1-52, electric tuning-fork model (the battery is new) in working order. The tuning-fork is characterised by high-frequency vibrations, which make it emit a significant sound (like the humming of an insect rather than in intervals like with a quartz movement). Nice collectors' piece.

Extra Points

This particular Unisonic is crisp and clean, a prime example of the model. Coupling the elegance of Universal Genève with true technological innovation, this is a piece of horological history, a relic from that transitional period between the introduction of the tuning fork and the Quartz Revolution.

A very reasonably priced piece of early horological history. A touch of style and sophistication about its design. yet another company utilising the licence calibre from the famous Bulova 2181.
