On offer here is a distinctively 1970s Fortis Spaceleader with the most Gorgeous Metalic Blue dial which in fantastic condition , catching the light and almost changing colour! This specific Fortis "Spaceleader" watch features an intriguingly shaped rounded oval case design with almost hidden lugs and an impressive outer diameter of around 39mm. The chrome interesting batons have a facet design again catching the light from different directions and the dial boasts a two tine effect with an outer silvered ring.A bold space-age solid stainless original bracelet and steel presured caseback. The watch has a pod-like construction case which fits to the bracelet and front bezel section housing the workhorse Nivada signed 21J Eta 2790-1 Day Date caliber, Fully serviced via our onsite workshop and running strong. FORTIS was founded in 1912 by Walter Vogt; its headquarters and factory are based in Grenchen, Switzerland. In 1926 Walter joined forces with the inventor of the automatic movement John Harwood to mass-produce the world's first automatic watch. In 1962 Rolf Vogt, son of the founder, handed over to NASA the Spacematic AR (All Risks) designed by FORTIS. 2003 saw the introduction of the official Cosmonaut Chronograph, which is still worn today as official equipment by Russian Cosmonauts, very much like the Omega Speedmaster Professional is still the official NASA watch.
