We have here a classic 'Must de' Cartier Ronde Vendome with a trademark Roman numeral dial and Vendôme lugs. However this particular Version is in Solid 18k yellow gold. We have bought and sold many of the vermeil 925 sterling silver gilt over the years but This solid 18k Gold 881001 version is quite rare. The watch has all the features of that classic Cartier style but with a slim, sleek design and an original dial. Black Roman numerals, railway-style minute tracking, sword-shaped blued hands and cabochon setting crown. We particularly love the articulated, Vendôme lugs which add an extra touch of elegance and sophistication.
The Solid 18k Gold hallmarked two piece case is the larger size and measures 30mm and is a very comfortable wear on the wrist for both him and her. Inside the case is the Swissquartz caliber,81 fully serviced by us and running strongly. This watch comes paired on a Genuine lizard French made brown strap with original Cartier Buckle The watch comes with an original Cartier box.
The 'Must De' Cartier concept was first introduced around 1973 when the Cartier lighter became the must-have accessory. Cartier branched out from jewellery to pens, leather goods, fragrances and more affordable watches. One of the main ways they transformed their designs way by making them out of vermeil, or silver gilt, which is gold-plated sterling silver. This made the watches more affordable whilst still having the prestige of being made from a precious metal. Various sizes, dial colours and finishes were then produced for both men and women. The Must de Cartier line was faded out at the beginning of the 21st century.
