This Watch

The interesting factors on this rare piece are That it was imported by  A.G.R.  (Arthur George Randle of clerkenwell). A Renown watch importer not far from our shop! Also the condition of the watch is nothing short of amazing! original inner glass and even the original leather strap and buckle. Enamelled dial with painted numbers plus subsidiary seconds dial at 6 oclock

We have dated the watch to 1929/30 Via the Edinburgh import mark
Solid 925 sterling silver half hunter Wristwatch with enamelled dial and spring pop up lid. The button between 4-5 pm releases the lid to show the dial. These often didn't have retailers or makers names as were a piece of equipment really. This one is in amazing condition for nearly 100 years old and even what I feel is the original strap with a hallmarked silver buckle.   It's a smaller watch as they often were back then 32mm - 33mm and quite a short strap, apparently people were also more slight back then!  This is definitely a special one to be used only really on occasion due to its age and we usually fit a more usable strap to save the original vintage leather.

What we think

A stunning piece of history which has amazingly survived in fantastic condition for nearly 100 years.  My father has a collection off such pieces and you could say they are like smaller pocket watches on the wrist. The presence of the original strap alse adds to its charm and appeal.
