This Watch
IWC released their first Aquatimer in 1967, almost 100 years after they were founded, and it was an instant hit as a dive watch. IWC have since had an illustrious career making dive watches, among others. Originally built with a Valjoux 7750 caliber, this was gradually upgraded to the in house 75320, then 79320 IWC caliber.
This is probably my favourite chronograph from the 1990s. Not only is it in excellent condition and the full set, but the dial is flawless. The bold black colour really makes the applied silver batons and lume on the hands pop. The contrast is next level and makes for such easy reading on a very complicated dial.
Extra Points
The watch has a stainless steel bracelet with a depression deployment clasp, screw down crown and case back, uni-directional rotating bezel underneath the sapphire crystal, day and date functions and sub dials for 30 minutes, 12 hours and seconds.
It comes with the full box and papers and the IWC service history - it doesn't come more complete than this!
This watch has been fully serviced by our on-site workshop and comes with our 12 month, non-waterproof service cover.
What we think
Diving watches made in the 1990s don't get much nicer than this. The industrial look of the watch is classic IWC, while still looking modern. A quality piece of design, with a high-spec movement to match, this watch is one for the ages. While it does measure in at 42mm, it doesn't have the same oversized feel of other watches and makes for a comfortable wear.
