This Watch

We have here an incredible stainless steel Tudor Prince Date with the most gorgeous silvered linen dial!  The polished chrome, baton markers and stick hour, minute and central seconds hands tie in nicely with the dial.  The famous Tudor shield sits at 12 o'clock and underneath it, the dial is signed 'Tudor, Prince Date'.  The cyclops date is at 3 o'clock on sapphire glass and the dial is also signed with the classic 'Rotor, Self-Winding' at 6 o'clock.

The polished bezel really draws your eye into the dial from the 34mm, brushed stainless steel, screw-back case.  The classic, Tudor-signed, screw-down crown completes the case.  Inside is the automatic, rotor, self-winding caliber 2824-2, fully serviced by us and running strongly.  The watch comes on its original stainless steel bracelet pushing the watch into the sporty category and it also comes with an original Tudor box.

Just after the Second World War, Hans Wilsdorf, founder of Rolex, knew that the time had come to expand and give the Tudor brand a true identity of its own. He created the “Montres TUDOR S.A.” company on the 6th March 1946, specializing in models for men and women. Rolex guaranteed the technical, aesthetic, and functional characteristics, along with the distribution and after-sales service.

In 1947 Tudor introduced the Oyster, their first waterproof watch, building on the success of the Rolex Oyster of the same period. In 1952, 26 Tudor Oyster Prince watches were included in the British scientific expedition to Greenland, organised by the Royal Navy and sponsored by The Queen. This showed the world how robust Tudor Oyster watches were.
