This Watch
A beautifully understated Dunhill “Wafer” rectangular wristwatch, reference 8036, and a great example of the brand’s quiet, late-20th-century design language: slim, sharp, and very “Mayfair”. The stainless steel case wears elegantly on the wrist with its long, clean planes and ultra-thin profile, while the crisp white dial is all about proportion—an inset central panel, fine minute track, and elongated baton markers that give the watch a very architectural look.
Signed “A. Dunhill Ltd London” to the dial, with Swiss Made at 6, this is a proper Dunhill piece that sits in that sweet spot between classic dress-watch restraint and unmistakable design identity. Power comes from a Swiss quartz movement, making it an easy, reliable wear-and-go option.
- Reference 8036 “Wafer” – a known Dunhill model line, prized for its ultra-slim rectangular case and clean dial layout.
- Dunhill / London signature on the dial: a strong nod to the house’s British heritage and its long association with tailored menswear, leather goods, and gentleman’s accessories.
- Minimalist, stepped / framed dial design: the recessed centre and long indices give the watch a very refined, modernist feel (and it photographs brilliantly).
- A genuine value alternative to the obvious rectangular icons—if you like the elegant “tank” silhouette but want something a bit more niche and quietly cool, the Wafer does that job extremely well.

Extra Points
Alfred Dunhill Ltd. is a world known English company, aJaeger-Lecoultre Atmos regulator for Alfred Dunhill brand of men's products de-luxe, which provides the true connoisseurs of the English luxury with clothing, leather accessories, writing implements, jewelries, lighters, fragrances and, of course, watches.
The brand’s founder is Alfred Dunhill, the son of entrepreneur who owned a famous saddler business in London. But the 20 century replaced horses with more practical and powerful automobiles. It gave enterprising people a wide range of possibilities, and the company of Dunhill began its development with the production of accessories and clothing for the first drivers. The slogan of Alfred (1872-1959) said: “It must be practical, safe, beautiful, and durable, and it must be the best”. More than 100 years this philosophy underlies the Dunhill's business. Few people know that Alfred Dunhill started his way to the world of beautiful and sophisticated things in 1893. The first shop “Dunhill's Motorities” was opened at Euston road, London. Since 1903 this shop had watches in sale. Those water resistant watches caused a great sensation in foggy London. Dunhill became interested in wrist watches in the middle of 20s. They were distinguished by novelty and vivid design. The regular customers had an opportunity to choose different watches in the catalogues: square, round, diamond-shaped, men, and women watches. By the end of 20s a wide range of bracket clocks appeared in the watch collection. However, the audience was mostly admired by the design know-how in 1926: the clocks were built in the case of classic lighter “Unique”. The trend of unusual things remained, and in 1928 the watch «Reversible» were built in the silver buckle of men belt. The wrist watches and writing implements appeared in the collection when the contract with Japanese Namiki was concluded.

What we think
This is exactly the sort of watch Dunhill does best: restrained, tasteful, and confidently different without shouting about it. The rectangular “Wafer” case has a very clean, contemporary presence, but it still feels timeless—especially with a dial this crisp and balanced.
It’s also a great option if you want a smart dress watch you can actually wear every day. Quartz makes it wonderfully practical, and the design does all the heavy lifting: slim profile, sharp lines, and that unmistakable Dunhill London signature. In short, it’s the kind of piece that looks “considered” on the wrist—perfect with a cuff, but equally good with a knit or a jacket.
