This is an excellent example of one of Oris's most iconic designs. The date is displayed around the edge of the dial and the pointer hand moves to show the current date.
Our Oris Pointer Date has a 34mm highly polished stainless steel case. A gentle curve of the lugs making it a comfortable fit. On the right side a subtle crown. A full double circle edge bezel supports a domed crystal. The silvered textured three tone dial has an outer date track with a center indicator hand with a half-moon in red marking the date. A mix of elegant Arabic numerals and almost chevron like batons indicate the hours. Easy on the eye gilt alpha hands with lume infill are complemented with a sweeping second hand. On the reverse an exhibition case back showcasing an Automatic ETA 2688, 17 Jewels, 21,600 beats per hour. The rotor is modified by Oris with its gold colour and machine-turned finishing. The watch comes fitted on an 18mm canvas khaki two piece strap with plenty of swap out options
Extra Points
Oris was founded by Paul Cattin and George Christian in the Swiss town of Hölstein. They bought a factory and signed a contract with the mayor in 1904. Initially making pocket watches in 1925 they started to add bracelets to their pocket watches which soon transitioned into the wristwatch. In 1938 they introduced the Big Crown that was used by pilots who wore thick leather gloves and needed a big crown for making adjustments.

Sold with the original box, this forever-stylish Oris is a must-have in any collection. It is no secret we are big fans of Oris and always have been, one of the last remaining truly independent brands in Switzerland that aren't doing bespoke crazy expensive pieces! This pointer date is a fantastic watch for not an awful lot of money, beautifully finished, and wears so well on the wrist.
