This Watch

This is a classic and elegant vintage Tissot Seastar Automatic wristwatch, reference number 44520. It features a clean, minimalist design with a silver dial and a date complication and at first glance you might think its an omega seamaster of the same era! Not unusual as they were produced along side the omega seamaster probably in the same factory.  Omega also used a variation on this Tissot caliber in some Geneve and Dynamic models.  all housed in a stainless steel case. Originally sold in 1973 The watch is presented on its original Tissot stainless steel oyster-style bracelet, adding a sporty touch to its refined aesthetic. 

Silver satin original dial shows age and character with a clean, minimalist design. It features applied stick hour markers and baton hands, both chrome and simple. The dial also includes the Tissot "T" logo at 12 o'clock, "TISSOT / SWISS" text beneath the logo, and "AUTOMATIC / SEASTAR" above the 6 o'clock marker. "T SWISS MADE T" is visible at the very bottom edge of the dial, indicating the use of tritium lume

• Bracelet: Original Tissot stainless steel oyster-style bracelet. This bracelet features a classic comfortable design giving it a distinctively sporty look. It is the original bracelet, adding to the watch's vintage appeal and collectibility. Can be swapped out for leather on request.

The Swiss luxury watch company Tissot from Le Locle, Switzerland, was established in 1853 by Charles Félicien Tissot and his son Charles-Emile. Under Charles-Emile’s direction, they manufactured pocket watches with parts from Russia and the United States. In 1915, the company began producing wristwatches. Between 1920 and 1977, Tissot produced its own movements. In 1930 to survive the 1929 crash and economic crisis they entered into an agreement with Omega to form the SSIH Group which 53 years later became the Swatch Group.

What we think

In our opinion, this Tissot is equal to what Omega was producing at the time in style and quality.  It is one not to be missed - the dial alone is exquisite - and it will look great in an established collection or a perfect piece for a first-time, vintage watch buyer who wants a quality swiss watch on a buget. We are big fans of Tissot watch co and they are such an under rated watch manufacturer and designer. A very close relationship with omega watch co and even using the same Movements and case components during the 1950s to 1970s.
