This Watch

We have here a spectacular Tissot integral bracelet wristwatch from 1972with a 34mm  X 39mm stainless steel integral bracelet case, which is so unapologetically 1970s in form and function.  A lug-to-lug length of 39mm and a case thickness of 11mm ensures a comfortable fit on the wrist.  On the right side is a signed  tissot winding crown which is also to advance the date with a push in motion, 

 

The center dial has a satin burst effect brushed blue effect that shimmers in the light when you rotate your wrist blending to the outer darker band. A minute chapter ring with applied, chamfered batons that have a strip of lume down their centre mark the hours and at 3 o'clock is a date indicator. Bold chrome stick hour, minute and central seconds hands make for easy reading.

 

Inside the stainless steel case is the manual push date Tissot caliber 2461, fully serviced by us and running strongly.  The watch comes paired on its original stainless steel bracelet with folding signed clasp.

 

Extra Points 

The Swiss luxury watch company Tissot from Le Locle, Switzerland, was established in 1853 by Charles Félicien Tissot and his son Charles-Emile. Under Charles-Emile’s direction, they manufactured pocket watches with parts from Russia and the United States. In 1915, the company began producing wristwatches. Between 1920 and 1977, Tissot produced its own movements. In 1930 to survive the 1929 crash and economic crisis they entered into an agreement with Omega to form the SSIH Group which 53 years later became the Swatch Group.

What we think

This, to me, is exactly what 1970s watch design is all about - retro loud and impressive on the wrist!  Whilst this isn't a huge watch, the lug-to-lug length of only 39mm will fit almost any wrist size comfortably.  Having the connected bracelet seems to add more comfort on wrist and this is a fully steel bracelet watch only piece. adding to the uniqueness of this awesome watch!  The PR516 have been re introduced by Tissot watch co here!
