We are incredibly excited about this 14ct gold Tissot dress watch from 1949. The watch has an amazing, original dial, complete with a gilt, Arabic 12 o'clock, gilt, dagger markers at 3 and 9 o'clock and gilt pips elsewhere. A large subsidiary seconds dial is at 6 o'clock and we also have outer minute tracking and long, gilt hour and minute hands.
The watch sits in a beautifully-coloured, 14ct gold case, measuring 34mm. Inside is the mechanical manual wind, Tissot caliber 27, fully serviced by us and running strongly. We've paired the watch on a black, lizard-grain strap as we feel like it is fitting with the age of the watch.
The Swiss luxury watch company Tissot from Le Locle, Switzerland, was established in 1853 by Charles Félicien Tissot and his son Charles-Emile. Under Charles-Emile’s direction, they manufactured pocket watches with parts from Russia and the United States. In 1915, the company began producing wristwatches. Between 1920 and 1977, Tissot produced its own movements. In 1930 to survive the 1929 crash and economic crisis they entered into an agreement with Omega to form the SSIH Group which 53 years later became the Swatch Group.

What we think
In our opinion, this Tissot is equal to what Omega were producing at the time in style and quality. It is one not to be missed, and will look great in an established collection or a perfect piece for a first-time, vintage watch buyer!
