This Watch

An all original, stainless steel Omega timepiece with date function and the most spectacular, original, satin, electric blue-effect dial. The dial is the first part of a watch which hits us. Coloured dials are now very popular, especially when they are the original factory fitted with correct dials. A beautiful timepiece with a real retro feel to it. Dating from 1969, this watch is in a rare, original condition with a case polish being performed in the workshop when serviced and a light polish to the original signed omega glass

Omega case reference 166.070 with the in-house Omega calibre 565, this watch has quick date change via the push pull plunge system all encased in a 35 mm solid steel screw back case.

It is a classic design with straight chrome hands and batons with the original lume. Notice the usual light "lume burn" around the dots at the markers , Not unusual with these electric satin blue dials for the applied luminous paint to react with this type of dial variation and even adds to the proof of originality. We are personally a big fan of any "original" blue dialed watches .

Extra Points

Formerly known as the La Generale Watch Co. it was founded by Louis Brandt in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1848. In 1903 they renamed the company Omega until 1982 when they officially changed their name to Omega SA. They are part of the Swiss Swatch Group. Louis Brandt, who established the firm in 1848 in La Chax de Fonds. In 1903, the company changed it's name to Omega, becoming the only watch brand in history to have been named after one its own movements. A full-fledged manufacturer of highly accurate, affordable and reliable watches, its sterling reputation enabled them to be chosen as the first watch company to time the Olympic Games beginning in 1932. Its continued focus on precision and reliability ultimately led their Speedmaster chronograph to be chosen by the NASA in 1965, the first watch worn on the moon.
