It's very hard not to get excited when we have here a stunning Movado Tempo-Matic in a like-new condition from the 1970s! This Tempo-Matic is a 'Sub-Sea' 2785 reference looks just as stylish now as it would have in the 1970s.
The silvered dial beautiful. There is minimal aging as we would expect with a watch in this condition. A mixture of gilt baton and stick markers blend nicely with the case but provide a contrast to the dial for added readability. The dial is signed 'Movado' with the famous Movado logo at 12 o'clock. At 6 o'clock, the dial is signed 'Tempo-Matic' a reference to the earlier, patented Movado automatic movements. At 3 o'clock is the semi-quick change date function.
The sharp, 34mm, gold-plated, screw-back case is a comfortable wear for both men and women. Stylishly round and with straight lugs, this watch has all the 1960s classic dress watch features while benefiting from the 1970s innovations. The case back is signed 'Sub Sea.' Inside is the Movado automatic caliber 608 (ETA 2742), fully serviced by us and running strongly. We've paired this watch on a black leather strap to keep it in the dress watch category, but it looks great on brown too. Not only is this watch in fantastic/like new condition, it also comes with its original box - something that is quite rare for a watch of this age!

Achilles Ditesheim at the age of 19 founded LAI Ditescheim & Freres SA in 1881. With the help of 6 watchmakers, he built a workshop in the small village of La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. In 1905 he renamed the company Movado meaning “always in motion” in the international language of Esperanto. In 1947 Nathan George Horwitt created the single dot watch dial. In 1960 Horwitts original design became the first watch dial ever to be accepted by the Museum of Modern Art, New York. In 2017 Movado Group purchased the Olivia Burton brand based in London, one of the fastest-growing fashion watch and jewellery brands in the UK. In October 2018 Movado Group acquired MVMT who specialise in selling quartz watches, sunglasses and jewellery. The Movado Group also owns Concord, Ebel.

What we think
This is the perfect watch for the first time buyer, or a seasoned collector. Movado are, in our opinion, a very much underrated brand. They have quality, Swiss movements - and this one is automatic no less! Complete with its original box, this watch is an absolute steal!
