This Watch

We are thrilled to offer this highly coveted Tudor Black Bay "Harrods Exclusive", reference 79230G. Originally retailed in 2021, this is a special edition timepiece that was available exclusively through the fine watch room of the iconic Harrods department store in Knightsbridge, London.

The defining feature of this model is the distinctive olive green bezel, a colour synonymous with the Harrods brand. The dial features gilt hands and markers, but with unique touches specific to this edition: the depth rating text is printed in green, and the tip of the seconds hand is also green. Furthermore, the depth rating is printed "feet first" (660ft : 200m) rather than meters first, a subtle nod to vintage Tudor Submariners of the past.

This specific watch comes as a complete collector's set. It includes the original inner and outer boxes, the warranty card (dated August 2021), the user manual, the additional black fabric NATO strap, and crucially, the original Harrods purchase receipt. The caseback is engraved with the unique production number 5860, marking its place in this limited run.

The collaboration between Tudor and Harrods resulted in a watch that instantly became a collector's favourite. While sharing the robust architecture of the standard Black Bay 41mm—including the chronometer-certified Manufacture Calibre MT5602 with its 70-hour power reserve—the aesthetic changes make it truly unique.

The "Harrods Green" bezel insert is aluminium, giving it a warmer, more vintage feel than ceramic counterparts. The caseback engraving features the Harrods "H" logo and the specific production number, adding a level of individuality not found on standard production models. Now that this specific collaboration has been retired/discontinued, examples with full documentation and provenance like this are becoming increasingly difficult to source.

Just after the Second World War, Hans Wilsdorf, founder of Rolex, knew that the time had come to expand and give the Tudor brand a true identity of its own. He created the “Montres TUDOR S.A.” company on the 6th March 1946, specializing in models for men and women. Rolex guaranteed the technical, aesthetic, and functional characteristics, along with the distribution and after-sales service.

In 1947 Tudor introduced the Oyster, their first waterproof watch, building on the success of the Rolex Oyster of the same period. In 1952, 26 Tudor Oyster Prince watches were included in the British scientific expedition to Greenland, organised by the Royal Navy and sponsored by The Queen. This showed the world how robust Tudor Oyster watches were.

What we think

The Tudor Black Bay Harrods is, in our opinion, the best-looking variation of the entire 41mm Black Bay line. The olive green is subtle and sophisticated, pairing perfectly with the gilt dial accents. It is a watch that feels special on the wrist because you know it wasn't available just anywhere. The inclusion of the original receipt is a massive "value-add" for collectors, providing absolute indisputable provenance. A stunning, robust tool watch that doubles as a solid investment.
