The TAG Heuer 4000 Series is pure 1990s “do-anything” Swiss sports watch — tough, practical, and seriously good value for what you get. This is the full-size TAG Heuer 4000 automatic, reference 695.706K, in bi-metal (stainless steel with gold-tone accents) on its matching bracelet.
It’s a proper everyday tool watch with the classic 4000 design language: a clean, highly legible dial with strong lume plots, a rotating dive-style bezel, and a 200 metres rating printed proudly on the dial. The two-tone detailing gives it just enough flash without pushing it into dress-watch territory — it’s still very much a sporty, weekend-to-work kind of piece.
A big part of the appeal with these is how wearable they are. The case and bracelet have that slightly integrated 90s profile that sits securely on the wrist, and the overall look has aged brilliantly: unmistakably “period” now, but still modern enough to wear daily without feeling like a costume.
Interesting bit: the 4000 Series sits in that sweet spot after TAG’s takeover of Heuer (mid-80s) and before the modern reissues boom — a time when TAG Heuer were making robust, well-finished sports watches meant to be worn hard. They’ve quietly become a favourite for collectors who want genuine Swiss heritage without the inflated hype-tax.
The clean, silvered dial feels very no-nonsense and has a nice age to the luminous markers and hands The famous TAG Heuer logo sits at 12 o'clock and the dial is signed Automatic 200 Meters' at 6. The date function is at 3 o'clock. There is a mix of triangle and lolly stick and lumed markers and an outer minute tracking ring. The dial flows seamlessly into the case and makes for an impressively easy read.
The brushed, stainless steel, screw-back case comes complete with crown guards, And is in good but used condition for the signed, screw-down crown, integrated into the case for a seamless, sporty design. The uni-directional bezel has the classic minute tracking, 10 minute interval markings and 12 o'clock Heuer badge that we all know Inside is the tried & tested automatic ETA caliber 2892-2, fully serviced by us and running strongly.

Edouard Heuer founded The Heuer Watch Company in 1860 in St. Imier, Switzerland. Chronographs have been the mainstay for Heuer and later TAG Heuer. The brand has produced many models and configurations, expanding the possibilities to the full. In 1958 Jack Heuer, Edouard’s son, joined the company. In 1962 the first generation of Autavia was launched and has famously been worn in by Formula One drivers such as Derek Bell, Jacky Ickx, Emerson Fittipaldi, Clay Regazzoni and Mario Andretti, and many more.
