We have here a Cartier Ronde with an original, tri-colour/bullseye dial and Vendôme lugs in a vermeil case from the 1990s. The watch has all the features of that classic Cartier style but with added tri-colour detailing and no numerals! The tri-colour circles on the dial are complemented by blue steel hands and cabochon winding crown. We particularly love the articulated, Vendôme lugs which add an extra touch of elegance and sophistication at a great price.
The vermeil case, also known as silver gilt, or gold-plated sterling silver, measures 24mm and is a very comfortable wear on the wrist and this smaller size makes it the perfect watch for ladies. Inside the case is the Swissquartz caliber 81, fully serviced by us and running strongly. We've paired this watch on a brown Cartier crocodile strap with a plain, gold-tone buckle to bring out the tri-colour dial. The watch comes with our plain presentation box.
The 'Must De' Cartier concept was first introduced around 1973 when the Cartier lighter became the must-have accessory. Cartier branched out from jewellery to pens, leather goods, fragrances and more affordable watches. One of the main ways they transformed their designs way by making them out of vermeil, or silver gilt, which is gold-plated sterling silver. This made the watches more affordable whilst still having the prestige of being made from a precious metal. Various sizes, dial colours and finishes were then produced for both men and women. The Must de Cartier line was faded out at the beginning of the 21st century.
