This Watch

We have here a stunning Omega Genève model 162.0052 with the most amazingly simple and symmetrical satin burst dial.  The way this dial captures the light gives it an almost mother of pearl effect.

If you love 1970s Omega design, this is the kind of piece that quietly wins you over the longer you wear it. The Omega Genève ref. 162.0052 is a beautifully balanced example of the era’s “TV case” styling—softly squared, slightly architectural, and very wearable. It has that confident, design-led silhouette that feels instantly vintage, yet still looks clean and modern on the wrist today.

The dial is classic Omega restraint: a silver sunburst finish with crisp applied batons and uncomplicated printing. No clutter, no fuss—just a sharp, handsome face that catches the light in a way only a well-finished brushed dial can. Under the hood you’ve got Omega’s calibre 1012, a high-beat automatic that was built for real everyday use: smooth seconds sweep, practical quickset date, and the kind of reliability that made these watches true “daily drivers” in their time.

And this particular example really shines for collectors because the fundamentals are right: original Omega plexi crystal, original Omega crown, and a case that still presents in extremely good overall condition. We have fitted a trending blue suede 18mm Strap which we feel pops! Other strap options available on request.

Extra Points

Founded by Louis Brandt in 1848, Omega started out as La Generale Watch Co., an unassuming, but international business. It wasn't until 1885, when the company had been taken over by Louis' sons, that the first mass-produced caliber, the Labrador, was released. By 1903, the company had renamed itself Omega and only two years later were they the official timekeepers at many sporting events across Switzerland. Omega stepped onto an international stage in 1932 as the official timekeepers at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles, the first of over 20 Olympic Games. Omega were one of the 12 companies, now known as the Dirty Dozen, commissioned to produce watches for the British Military during the Second World War. One of Omega's most iconic watches, the Seamaster, was introduced in 1948 to celebrate their 100th anniversary. Over 70 years later, it is still one of Omega's best selling watches. Omega made headlines in 1962 when Wally Schirra wore the Speedmaster as part of NASA's first crewed spaceflight programme, making the Speedmaster the first watch to enter space. It was only a few years before the Speedmaster became the official chronograph for the American space missions and was worn by Buzz Aldrin as well as the Apollo 13 crew. Omega are still involved with NASA and have been instrumental in creating vital pieces of equipment for space exploration.

This watch comes fully serviced by our on-site workshop and with a 12 month, non-waterproof service cover.

What we think

Omega’s TV-case watches are one of the best-kept secrets in vintage collecting: they deliver real design character without the price inflation that follows some of the more obvious icons. There’s a little hint of the same design confidence you see in 70s Patek “TV” styles, certain Vacheron cushion-era shapes, and even the broader “geometry-first” vibe that Cartier leaned into across different decades—except here it’s pure Omega practicality, built to be worn.

The best part is the way it wears. The square-ish footprint gives it presence, while the curves keep it comfortable and surprisingly sleek. It’s one of those watches that makes a simple outfit look considered.
