This Watch

Bucherer was founded in 1888 in the Swiss town of Lucerne.  The company formed a partnership with Rolex in 1924, who, at the time, were barely established.  Bucherer expanded across Switzerland in the 1930s, and later Austria and Germany.  In 2013, Bucherer opened the world's largest watch and jewellery store in Paris and, in Copenhagen in 2016, the company opened the largest store in Scandinavia.  Bucherer's watchmaking success includes being one of the first companies to move from a pocket watch to a watch on a strap, as well as pioneering the peripheral rotor automatic movement, allowing movements to be thinner.

Bucherer have many partnerships within the sports and film industries (including as the Official Timekeeper of Swiss national football teams and as the official partner of "John Wick" and "Atomic Blonde"), but one of their most famous affiliations is with the Manta Trust, a UK organisation to aid the conservation of endangered manta rays. 

Extra Points 

This elegant watch comes with the most stunning original electric graphite grey / aqua dial.  The dial has bold block markers and straight chrome hour, minute and central seconds hands, as well as a date function and Eta modified caliber 2772. The watch at a glance could be an IWC or Jaeger lecoultre in design but of course a fraction of the price.

What we think

A very underrated watch brand among collectors, we are huge fans of Bucherer here at AWC (and not only because, like us, they are still a family-owned company).  They are known for their associations with high-quality watchmakers, and this watch is not only that, but it has a timeless design, which isn't sacrificed in size. we have paired the watch on a grey leather croco 20mm print but it will suit anything!
