This is an exceptional vintage Zenith Automatic dress watch, a timeless piece from a prominent era in Zenith's history, powered by their innovative first automatic movement, the Caliber 133. This example, dated circa 1949, represents the first year of production for the Caliber 133 movement. The dial hits you first as the condition is almost too good to be true! This stunning dial is all original and NOT refinished or restored. simple but elegant in design with raised Arabic numerals and simple straight hands.
The watch is presented in a classic 35mm steel case and features a charming vintage aesthetic. A classic round stainless steel case, characteristic of dress watches from the late 1940s to early 1950s. Notice the attractive double circle banded bezel and slightly sculped lugs. The case back is of the snap-on type, Signed internally with "Acier Inoxydable" (French for stainless steel), "Zenith," and "Swiss Made". Also original star signed Zenith Crown.
Extra Points
Founded in 1865 by Georges Favre-Jacot at 22 in Le Locle Switzerland. In November 1999 they were purchased by LVMH Group joining brands like TAG Heuer and Hublot. They are one of the few brands that continue to manufacture their own in-house movements. Over the years Zenith has won over 2300 awards for precision.
