This Watch

We have here a fantastic dive-style Omega Seamaster Chronostop model 145.008 from 1968.  The watch is complete with the inner dive multi-direction bezel.  The black dial has slightly reverse tapered stick mirror baton markers, nice cream lume dots with just enough patina to give no doubt to its originality.  The outer minute tracking is an interesting checkerboard style and the final outer-ring is the 60 minute, unidirectional bezel.  White stick black/white hour and minute hands are complemented by the orange flyback Chronostop hand. This model was actually known as the poor mans speedmaster as it actually uses a variation of the omega speedmaster moon watch caliber 861.

The 41mm, stainless steel, screw-back case is big for a vintage watch but the perfect size for a dive watch (Not to be considered as waterproof today) and wears equally well on men and women.  Inside is the mechanical manual wind caliber 865, fully serviced by us and running strongly.  The watch comes on its original 22mm steel 1117 omega bracelet with 549 end pieces. It keeps that sporty feel but with a face like that it can wear anything.

Extra Points

Founded by Louis Brandt in 1848, Omega started out as La Generale Watch Co., an unassuming, but international business. It wasn't until 1885, when the company had been taken over by Louis' sons, that the first mass-produced caliber, the Labrador, was released. By 1903, the company had renamed itself Omega and only two years later were they the official timekeepers at many sporting events across Switzerland. Omega stepped onto an international stage in 1932 as the official timekeepers at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles, the first of over 20 Olympic Games. Omega were one of the 12 companies, now known as the Dirty Dozen, commissioned to produce watches for the British Military during the Second World War. One of Omega's most iconic watches, the Seamaster, was introduced in 1948 to celebrate their 100th anniversary. Over 70 years later, it is still one of Omega's best selling watches.

This watch comes fully serviced by our on-site workshop and with a 12 month, non-waterproof service cover.
